Coach DJ Hohmeier has been coaching since 1999. He was a successful gymnast for Barrington High School during that school's record setting boy's team season, and was briefly a member of the UIC men's team.
His coaching life started by working at the Barrington Park District in their gymnastics program, and soon after began working as a mobile coach, going to daycare centers in the surrounding towns and teaching weekly classes. After some time, he worked with the business owner to construct and operate Kids In Action Gymnastics Academy in Barrington, where he coached everything from girls teams, boys teams, trampoline and tumbling, and special needs classes. These days, he has found his happy place in working with girls' competitive teams.
DJ has been fortunate enough to travel to many parts of the world, and around the US, coaching gymnastics in a variety of locations, including...
-GK Gymplex in Fort Collins, CO
-Mountain Gymnastics in Fort Collins, CO
-Levallois Sporting Club in Paris, France

DJ takes the sport seriously, while keeping a focus on fun, safety and positivity.
Many gymnasts he has trained have had successful careers and have gone on to place in state championships and continue on to be college gymnasts.
For 9 years, DJ coached alongside Leonard Isaacs, who is considered to be a "master coach" who has trained some of the most successful Illinois gymnasts in recent history. Leonard has had a major impact on DJ's coaching style and knowledge.
DJ also enjoys creative work such as woodworking, painting, and jewelry making.
He has a history as an international disaster volunteer, which taught him many life lessons, and helped spark his desire to help others improve their life situations and achieve their goals.
He is happy to be a part of the Royalty Team, and welcomes questions or conversation anytime.
